Hex Nuts are six sided hexagon nuts, used for tightening bolts and screws. Hex nuts are often used with hex headed bolts, however, they can be used with other types of bolts as well. Hexagonal body enables easy wrenching while putting enough torque to the bolting joint. These are often combined with lock washers.
Nylon Insert Lock Nut
A nylock nut is a nut that incorporates a nylon component on the inside of the nut to effectively lock the nut into position on the bolt.
Jam Nut
A jam nut is a low profile type of nut, typically half as tall as a standard nut. It is commonly used as a type of locknut, where it is "jammed" up against a standard nut to lock the two in place. It is also used in situations where a standard nut would not fit.
All Metal Lock Nut
Also referred to as a stover lock nut, these are single-piece, prevailing torque hex nuts that feature a conical top, flat bottom bearing surface, and chamfered corners. In Stover lock nuts, the locking action is created by distortion of their top threads during torquing, and can withstand severe shock loads and vibration. They are also effective in high heat places where the nylon on a nylock nut would melt.
Flange Nut
A flange nut is a nut that has a wide flange at one end that acts as an integrated lock washer. This serves to distribute the pressure of the nut over the part being secured, reducing the chance of damage to the part and making it less likely to loosen on uneven fastening surfaces.
